SEMI is the global industry association serving the manufacturing supply chain for the micro- and nano-electronics industries. This covers semiconductors, photovoltaic, LED, Flat Panel Display, micro-electromechanical systems, printed and flexible electronics and related micro / nano-electronics.

Since 1970 SEMI has served its members and the industries it represents through programmes, initiatives, and actions designed to advance business and market growth worldwide. It also fulfils a vital regulatory function working to ensuring that semiconductor industry products and processes are of the highest and most consistent quality possible, while being produced in a safe environment.

SEMI International Standards

The SEMI International Standards Programme was launched in the 1970's; its aims being to ensure that both quality and safety levels within the industry were maintained whilst supporting open markets and lower costs. Meeting SEMI standards is not compulsory. It is becoming increasingly common however, for companies working within the semiconductor industry to require that their suppliers and partners meet the applicable SEMI Standards.
