The EMC Directive applies to all electronic or electrical products liable to cause or be disturbed by an electromagnetic disturbance. As a result a large number of manufacturers in the electronics or electrical industries need to ensure that their products are compliant with the requirements of the Directive and be able to demonstrate that this is the case in order to affix a valid CE Marking to them.
With multiple methods available for demonstrating conformity and complex technical requirements it can often be confusing for manufacturers trying to ensure their products meet the EMC Directive 2004/108/EC. Technology International has a team of highly qualified engineers with extensive knowledge of the Directive and Standards associated with it. Technology International has over twenty years experience providing clients with efficient, cost-effective solutions that minimise the costs and resources of complying with the EMC Directive.
The services offered by the Technology International Group include:
The EMC Directive Compliance solutions offered by Technology International are scaleable. Customers can choose which aspects of the compliance process they require support for, allowing them to maintain full control of their costs. When the new EMC Directive came into force in July 2007 'Competent Body' appointments ceased to exist. In their place Notified Bodies were appointed, bringing the EMC Directive into line with other New Approach Directives such as the Machinery or Low Voltage Directives. With the Notified Body status there is no longer a mandatory requirement for the assessment of Technical Files.
To assist manufacturers with the changes in legislation Technology International has developed a number of new European Compliance services to ensure their products and systems fully comply with the new Directive.
Some manufacturers may still wish or need to have Technical Files assessed by a Notified Body. This could be because the practical issues prevented products or systems being tested to a full set of standards and a positive Notified Body assessment of a Technical File would provide additional confidence to a claim of comformity to the EMC Directive. Alternatively purchasers may make an assessment by a Notified Body a contractual requirement to ensure that they receive a product or system that is fully compliant with the EMC Directive. Finally, some regulatory bodies for industries where safety is of paramount importance, such as railways or nuclear power generation, may make Notified Body assessments mandatory.
Technology International has been appointed by the UK Government as a Notified Body for the EMC Directive. Under the terms of this appointment Technology International are able to conduct reviews of Technical Files and provide manufacturers with formal assessments of their evidence of conformity to the EMC Directive.
Technology International's Notified Body assessment procedure is fast, efficient and cost effective. Assessments can be conducted on behalf of any company, both inside and outside the EU, and the results are accepted throughout the European Union.
