Leading Global Tobacco Group

The opportunity to provide services for a leading international manufacturer and distributor of tobacco related products presented a positive challenge for Technology International. With the client having had no experience of either the European Machinery or EMC Directives, or CE Marking, Technology International needed to provide absolute clarity and support throughout the process, and beyond.

This project was carried out for a leading global manufacturer of tobacco products, and at all stages of the process the client was very impressed with our ability to keep to the tight project time frames imposed and the service provided.

Ensuring compliance for EMC & CE Marking for global manufacturer

The requirements were based around releasing a new model of Cigarette Making Machine which was both complex and unique in its design. A further complication lay in the fact that on-going design and development occurs on each machine on a semi-regular basis meaning that the support provided would have to be on-going and account for the continually changing machines.

Having completed full Mechanical and Electrical Safety assessments of the machines at the clients facilities in the UK, Technology International went on to produce full EMC testing and assessments against the ISO 13849 standard for all of the safety related parts within the control system itself.

The final in-situ test took place on site in Brazil and South Korea which meant that time and logistical restraints on the team were a prominent feature throughout the project.

Ensuring that we were able to quickly and efficiently ship out all of the required equipment to Brazil and South Korea was crucial to minimise any loss of potential manufacturing time for the two sites. The client was highly impressed with the speed at which we were able to deliver the project, especially as they wanted all issues addressed in full to guarantee full compliance and minimise risk.

Once the initial project was delivered, Technology International provided annual and continuous technical support to safeguard each machine’s on-going regulatory compliance. At all stages of the process the client was very pleased with the service and support we were able to provide and impressed with our ability to keep to the tight project time frames imposed.
